Background information:

Mesjokke Stardust is a so-called craft chocolate. The chocolate is made from Trinitario beans and comes from Åkesson's Estate in Madagascar. Otherworldly delicious, as the name of this chocolate itself already reveals, but simply made in Utrecht. Stardust is a milk chocolate made from honest cocoa from Madagascar and whey powder from European dairy farms, focusing on the flavour of cocoa beans with as few additives as possible.

Palm sugar

This chocolate is sweetened with Arenga Palm Sugar from the Masarang Company. This is more special than meets the eye. This is because this palm sugar not only contributes to your own well-being, but you also support local farmers and rainforest conservation. The fact that you are contributing to the welfare of endangered species like the orang-utan makes chocolate no longer a guilty pleasure, but a way of doing something positive. Want to know exactly how this works? You can read about it in our blog, Chocolate as a remedy for deforestation in Indonesia.

Origin

The cocoa beans were obtained through Direct Trade from Åkesson's Bejofo Estate in North West Madagascar. After picking, the cocoa beans were fermented for 6 days and dried for 5 to 14 days (depending on the weather).
At Utrecht's Mesjokke chocolate factory, the cocoa beans were then expertly roasted, skinned, ground and tempered from bean-to-bar. All this craftsmanship can be seen and tasted in this bar.
This dark chocolate is available in both a 40g bar and an 80g bar.
