Piura Blanco

We make this milk chocolate from the rare Piura Blanco cocoa beans.

Norandino is an agricultural cooperative focused on local Peruvian products such as coffee and cocoa. They continuously improve social, economic and environmental responsibility in their products and processes. Their production area spans the coast, mountains and jungle of northern Peru, in the departments of Piura, Tumbes, Amazonas, Cajamarca, Lambayeque and San Martín.

The cocoa beans come from the villages of Palmas, Puerta Palache and Las Lomas in the San Lorenzo Valley, part of the larger Piura Valley in Peru. This terroir consists of dry forest with only a few months of rain a year. The cocoa trees receive water from the Andes Mountains.

At Norandino, farmers ferment the beans for 6 to 8 days in wooden crates. After fermentation, they dry the beans in the sun and package them for shipment to the Netherlands.

Near and far

Heinde & Verre uses a variety of self-developed techniques to make their unique chocolate. Cocoa beans from a single farmer are hand-selected and roasted in different ways to bring out as many flavours as possible.

Each Heinde & Verre pack contains two chocolate bars, so one can be enjoyed immediately and another can be saved for later. Heinde & Verre takes the art of quality chocolate and customer enjoyment seriously. The brand has designed the ideal packaging to preserve the pure, natural flavours of their chocolates. A kraft bag offers protection from light, moisture, dust and dirt. The double airtight closure prevents odour transfer. In addition, some of the air has been removed to minimise oxidation and moisture.
