This harmonious blend of cocoa comes from organically certified beans from, the Dominican Republic, Peru and Indonesia.
The beans are bought directly from the farmer through the direct trade principle. This way, the farmer gets a fair price for a good product.
The Dutch Original Blend consists of three single origins: Öko Caribe from the Dominican Republic, Peruvian cocoa from the Amazonas region and Balinese cocoa from the Jembrana region.
Öko Caribe comes from 165 farmers in the heart of Duarte province in the Dominican Republic. This award-winning cocoa is known for its consistent quality. The cocoa farmers of this cooperative receive continuous agricultural training to keep them developing themselves.
This cocoa is characterised by earthy, coffee and red fruit notes.
Peruvian cocoa is grown by Norandino farmers from the Amazonas region. The mission of the farmers' cooperative is, improving the livelihoods and social and environmental responsibility of all members.
This cocoa gives a pleasant impression of red fruits, firm cocoa and spices.
The Balinese cocoa is grown by the 230 Kerta Semaya Samaniya Farmers (KSS) in the Jembrana region of the island. This stretch of the island is famous for its volcanic fertile soils. In 2011, KSS succeeded in growing the first organic cocoa in Southeast Asia here.
This cocoa is known for floral, mild chocolate and spicy notes.
