Auro Chocolate is International award-winning tree-to-bar chocolate brand that promotes sustainability by working directly with local farmers. Aiming to create refined Filipino cocoa beans, ingredients and retail products with unique and bold tropical flavours.

The name Auro

The name originates from the combination of "Au", the chemical symbol of Gold in the periodic table. And "Oro", the Filipino and Spanish word for gold.
"Auro represents our commitment to refining Philippine cocoa and uplifting the lives of our local farmers. Both are as precious as gold," Auro said.

The founders

Kelly Go and Mark Ocampo are the co-founders and managing directors of Auro Chocolate. They are extremely passionate about all things chocolate. Both grew up in the Philippines and first met in Chicago. It was here that they immediately formed a bond because of their love for food and culture.

Kelly studied Political Science and International Studies at the University of Chicago. After college, she trained at Le Cordon Bleu Paris for Culinary Arts. She wanted to gain a deeper understanding and knowledge of fine food.

Mark started in robotics and then shifted his focus to design and advertising at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After graduating, he worked on branding projects for multinational companies and some of the most influential personalities in America.

They attended an intensive course at the ZDS Institute in Germany to learn more about chocolate production. In 2015, they decided to return home. To establish Auro in The Philippines and make a difference with fine chocolate.

These chocolate makers go beyond tree to bar. By being closely involved in every aspect of the process, while remaining committed to consistency, quality, innovation and social impact. Auro is involved in every step of the process of making fine chocolate. This allows them to ensure the highest quality and consistency.

Moving forward, Auro commits to values that reflect the meaning of the tree-to-ripe process and create lasting impact for stakeholders, while sourcing and producing within the same origin.

All of Auro Chocolate's cocoa beans come from rich farming communities with unique terroir and passionate farmers who grow top-quality beans in the country. The company facilitates all forms of direct trade and supply chain partnerships to communicate the value of these farmers' work and deliver fair, traceable products to customers.
